I tell my parents I want to take art classes when I start college. I will never forget the looks on their faces...."What...art? You'll never make any money that way." What I heard was "Don't pursue you're natural talent and learn to use it correctly." I've never been taught any technique, and any time I started drawing they'd belittle my work under their breathe. They want me to be an engineer. I hate math, I'm bad at math. Why won't they see that? Why can't a person find his/her niche and learn to capitalize on that? Why is being artistic such a sin to parents? Why can't I make them proud?
